Teachers are crucial to pupils learning, but without caretakers working hard behind the scenes, it would not be possible for teachers to teach in a safe environment. Caretakers ensure the smooth running of the school Caretaking is a rewarding role, and the role is situated within a support and organised school. Academics are looking for an experienced and proactive individual to work long-term in a Cardiff secondary school ASAP. The working hours are 8.30am - 4.30pm. This is a fantastic opportunity with someone with caretaking or maintenance experience who is looking for a role.

Roles and Responsibilities (School Caretaker):

Undertake general maintenance to ensure the school premises are safe, clean, and well-maintained. These tasks and issues need to be acted upon promptly with urgency. E.g., sweeping, clearing litter and occasional gardening.
Liaise with external contractors when required.
Carry out routine checks and repairs to ensure they meet health and safety standards, e.g., fire alarm tests, heating, risk assessments.
Supporting other school staff with cleaning duties (if necessary).
Assist with setting up rooms for school events or activities e.g., exams, parents evening.

Essential Skills & Qualifications (School Caretaker):

Proven experience in a caretaking or similar role.
Responsible, punctual, and organised individual.
Uses initiative to solve problems through a practical and hands on approach.
Independent worker with excellent time keeping.
Familiarity with health and safety regulations.
Physically active.

Desirable Skills & Qualifications (School Caretaker):

Valid DBS (This check can be produced through us if needed)
Live in Cardiff
Driving licence and have access to a car
