A leading multinational contracting firm is seeking a highly capable and experienced Senior Health & Safety Manager / Health and Safety Lead to take ownership of all health and safety functions on a major data centre construction project. This is a high-value, high-profile build with a three-year delivery timeline and a strong regional pipeline of future work.

The successful candidate will lead the health and safety function across the entire project lifecycle, working closely with the Project Director, the client, subcontractors, and all key stakeholders. This role demands a confident, strategic leader who can effectively communicate at a senior level, manage a team of safety professionals, and drive a best-in-class safety culture on site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all health and safety operations on a major data centre project, ensuring compliance with all legislative, corporate, and client requirements.
  • Directly report to the Project Director and act as the principal liaison for all health and safety matters.
  • Develop, implement, and oversee the project-specific Health & Safety Strategy and Execution Plan.
  • Manage, mentor, and support a team of Health & Safety Advisors across the site.
  • Lead regular HSE meetings with the client, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain all HSE documentation, plans, communications, and reporting protocols.
  • Monitor site compliance, conduct audits, inspections, and lead incident investigations as required.
  • Represent the company in all client, regulatory, and external HSE communications.
  • Drive continuous improvement and promote a strong, proactive safety culture throughout the project.
  • Provide clear, senior-level guidance and input on all safety-related planning, risk assessments, and works coordination.

Requirements:

  • Minimum of 10+ years of experience in construction health and safety, including major project delivery.
  • Demonstrated success leading health and safety on complex, large-scale projects (data centres, pharma, life science preferred).
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent (CMIOSH or equivalent chartered status desirable).
  • Deep knowledge of construction safety legislation, compliance standards, and best practice methodologies.
  • Proven ability to lead safety teams and engage effectively with clients, contractors, and senior project stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, confident in leading meetings and high-level discussions.
  • Experience developing and implementing HSE strategies, systems, and improvement initiatives.
  • Competent in using digital HSE management systems and reporting tools.
