Vision for Education are currently working alongside a Specialist SEN School in Cardiff, who are looking to assign a Specialist SEN Assistant to support pupils with profound and multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).

The school caters for pupils aged 3-19 with complex physical and sensory impairments. It will be your role to support pupils to access a highly bespoke and tailored curriculum. You must have experience of supporting young people or adults with physical disabilities and/or additional needs. You will need to be comfortable providing personal care and would need to possess a Moving and Handling certificate as hoisting pupils will be essential.  

It is vital that you have knowledge and understanding of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCP) and the ability to differentiate and adapt learning resources to meet individual pupil needs. You will have a holistic and person-centred approach and the flexibility to address and respond to social, emotional and personal needs.

The following qualifications or knowledge of the following will be highly desirable, but not essential:

-          Picture Exchange Communication (PECS)

-          Makaton or BSL (to any level)

-          Autism Awareness/ASC Training

-          Team Teach / MAPA

-          Buccal midazolam training

-          Hydrotherapy and physio training

-          Rebound therapy

-          Peg & Tube Feeding
