About the Role

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Planning Manager to join the South Wales team. This is a pivotal role for an ambitious and knowledgeable planning professional who will lead and manage the planning process for residential development projects. You will work closely with land, technical, and legal teams to secure planning permissions that drive forward high-quality housing schemes across the region.



Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the planning process from site identification to securing permissions for large-scale residential developments.
  • Conduct site assessments, feasibility studies, and planning appraisals to evaluate development potential.
  • Prepare, submit, and manage planning applications, ensuring alignment with local and national planning policies.
  • Monitor Local Plan reviews and emerging planning policy changes, advising on strategic opportunities.
  • Engage with local authorities, landowners, consultants, and key stakeholders to facilitate smooth planning approvals.
  • Represent the company at public consultations, planning committees, and appeal hearings.
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams to ensure planning strategies are executed effectively.


Requirements

  • Degree in Town Planning, Urban Planning, Geography, or a related field.
  • Chartered Membership (or working towards membership) of RTPI and/or RICS.
  • Strong knowledge of UK planning legislation, Local Plan policies, and development processes.
  • Experience within a housebuilder, planning consultancy, or local authority.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Strong analytical ability to assess planning risks and opportunities.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the South Wales region.
