We are seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a supportive education team in Cardiff. This role is ideal for someone who has experience working with children with SEBD (Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties) and trauma-informed backgrounds.
The school is set in a wonderful and quiet suburb of Cardiff, with a fantastic curriculum based on practical skills and improving the pupils' learning journeys during their time in school. The pupils receive excellent opportunities to participate outside of the classroom, including outdoor activities such as mountain climbing, paddle boarding, camping and canoeing. This position will provide you with the comfort of knowing that you will be working with a knowledgable and well-trained team to support you within an award-winning education establishment.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Assist in the planning and delivery of lessons tailored to students with SEBD and trauma-informed needs.
- Provide one-to-one support to students, helping them with academic tasks and emotional regulation.
- Implement behaviour management strategies that are sensitive to the students' emotional and behavioural needs.
- Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to create a safe and effective learning environment.
- Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
- Participate in training and development sessions to enhance understanding of SEBD and trauma-informed care.
- Experience working with children with SEBD and trauma-informed backgrounds.
- Strong understanding of the challenges faced by these students and effective strategies to support them.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently.
- A compassionate and patient approach.
- Relevant qualifications in education or child care are preferred.
