Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children? Do you have experience working with children or adults who have additional learning needs? We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our team and provide tailored support to primary school pupils with Additional Learning Needs such as Autism and ADHD.

About the Role:

As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with individual pupils, providing focused support to help them access the curriculum, develop social and emotional skills, and build confidence in their learning environment. Your role will be key in fostering an inclusive and supportive atmosphere, where each child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support to pupils with Autism and ADHD, both in the classroom and during activities.
  • Adapt learning materials and approaches to suit the individual needs of each pupil.
  • Support pupils in developing social skills, communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to monitor progress and adjust support strategies.
  • Encourage positive behaviour and assist with managing challenging situations in a calm and constructive manner.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Experience working with children with Autism and ADHD, either in a school or a similar setting, is preferred, but not essential.
  • A patient, empathetic, and flexible approach to supporting neurodiverse learners.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with children, teachers, and parents.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as part of a team.
  • A passion for promoting inclusion and diversity within the classroom.
  • A relevant qualification in education or SEN (e.g., Teaching Assistant qualification, NVQ Level 2/3, or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
