ROLE: Quantity Surveyor
LOCATION: Medway, Kent
SALARY: £35,000 - £50,000 DOE
THE COMPANY
A successful Main Contractor within the construction industry dealing with multiple industries including Commercial, Residential; Modular/Traditional Build, Leisure and Retail are looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join their main office in Medway. This company carry out works across the UK and have earned a reputation for quality on projects.
THE JOB
The Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for cost management, procurement, contract administration, and financial control across multiple projects. Working closely with project teams, you will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Estimation & Budgeting: Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for projects.
- Procurement & Subcontractor Management: Procure subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring value for money and quality standards.
- Contract Administration: Manage contracts, variations, and claims, ensuring compliance with legal and contractual requirements.
- Cost Control & Reporting: Monitor project costs, prepare financial reports, and manage cash flow forecasts.
- Valuations & Payments: Prepare and agree on interim valuations, payment applications, and final accounts.
- Risk Management: Identify and mitigate potential financial and contractual risks.
- Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, site teams, and clients to drive commercial success.
What they are looking for
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in a Quantity Surveying role, ideally with a main contractor.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts (e.g., JCT, NEC).
- Proficient in cost management software and Microsoft Excel.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and work to deadlines.
