About Us

We are partnering a fast-growing pet food subscription company, dedicated to providing high-quality, nutritious food for pets. Having recently moved into a 15,000 sq. ft. warehouse, they are poised for significant growth and are looking for an experienced and proactive General Manager to oversee their operations and supply chain. This role will ensure smooth day-to-day operations, efficient supply chain management, and outstanding service to their customers.

Role Overview

The General Manager will be responsible for managing the end-to-end supply chain, from procurement and supplier relationships to logistics and inventory management. This individual will also oversee warehouse operations (we have a warehouse manager), implement process improvements, and ensure compliance with health and safety standards. Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the General Manager will play a critical role in driving operational efficiency and supporting the company’s growth trajectory.

Key Responsibilities

Supply Chain & Procurement

• Oversee the ordering and management of stock from global suppliers (6 suppliers across various regions).

• Coordinate logistics, including the scheduling and receipt of shipping containers.

• Ensure accurate inventory levels to fulfil customer subscriptions.

• Conduct supplier negotiations to achieve the best terms while maintaining strong relationships.

• Monitor and track shipments, ensuring timely and complete deliveries.

• Regularly review supply chain processes for optimisation and cost-effectiveness.

Warehouse & Operations Management

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the 15,000 sq. ft. warehouse.

• Implement and refine processes to ensure smooth order fulfilment and operational efficiency.

• Oversee stock checks and quality assurance to maintain accurate inventory records.

• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including fire risk assessments and routine checks.

HR & Compliance

• Support recruitment, training, and onboarding of operational staff.

• Assist with HR matters, including team management and performance evaluations.

• Maintain and promote a safe working environment by enforcing health and safety standards.

Process Improvement & Collaboration

•Identify opportunities for process improvement and cost savings across the supply chain and warehouse operations.

• Collaborate closely with the Managing Director on strategic initiatives and operational planning.

Key Skills & Attributes

•Experience in Supply Chain Management: Proven ability to manage suppliers, logistics, and inventory in a fast-paced environment.

•Strong Analytical Skills: Attention to detail with a focus on accuracy in stock levels, supplier orders, and delivery schedules.

•Operational Expertise: Demonstrated experience in managing day-to-day operations in a warehouse or similar setting.

•Process Improvement Mindset: Ability to identify inefficiencies and implement effective solutions.

•Negotiation & Communication Skills: Strong negotiation skills to manage suppliers and excellent communication to lead teams effectively.

•Health & Safety Knowledge: Familiarity with fire risk assessments, compliance regulations, and best practices.

•Leadership & Teamwork: Capable of managing and motivating a team while working collaboratively with senior management.

Qualifications & Experience

• Experience in supply chain, warehouse management, or operations management.

• Familiarity with procurement and supplier management in a global context.

• Strong understanding of health and safety standards and compliance.

• Experience with inventory management systems and operational tools.

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or related field (preferred but not essential).
