Compass Corporate Services are proud to be partnering exclusively with a national charity dedicated to supporting children and young adults with complex learning difficulties, disabilities, and additional communication needs. Together we are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior Learning & Development Business Partner. This role offers the chance to lead critical learning and development initiatives within a forward-thinking organisation dedicated to improving lives.

Working closely with the Head of HR & Development, you will play a key part in shaping and delivering a strategic approach to learning and development. From implementing digital systems to driving cultural change, you will ensure the charity continues to foster growth, innovation, and excellence in its practices.

The Role

As Senior Learning & Development Business Partner, you will oversee the full spectrum of learning and development activities, ensuring alignment with organisational goals and regulatory requirements. This role involves both strategic leadership and hands-on delivery, working collaboratively with stakeholders across the charity. Key responsibilities include:

  • Driving the implementation of digitalisation projects, including new LMS and ERP systems.
  • Leading leadership and management training initiatives to enhance organisational capability.
  • Reviewing and improving induction programmes for new starters.
  • Championing a coaching culture to support professional growth and development.
  • Providing expert guidance on performance management and L&D strategy.
  • Line management of a Learning & Development Partner and an Associate Business Partner, with additional dotted-line management responsibilities.
  • Partnering with clinical, therapy, and care teams to deliver tailored development solutions.

Location

This is an on-site role based in Cheadle Hulme, with hybrid flexibility.

Essential Criteria

  • Significant experience in L&D leadership roles, ideally within regulated sectors.
  • Experience managing direct reports and delivering team development initiatives.
  • Familiarity with implementing digital learning solutions and driving innovation.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory compliance within learning and development functions.
  • Transparent, approachable, and organised personality, with the confidence to lead change and deliver constructive feedback.
  • Sector experience in disabilities, education, or healthcare is preferred but not essential if transferable skills are demonstrated.

  • Be a strategic thinker with a hands-on approach to delivery.
  • Demonstrate proven experience in navigating challenges in under-established teams and driving cultural change.
  • Show a strong track record of stakeholder engagement and transformational initiatives.
  • Exhibit exceptional interpersonal skills, fostering partnerships with clinical, therapy, or care teams.
  • Be comfortable implementing innovative and forward-thinking L&D practices.

This is a multi-stage interview process:

  • Chemistry call.
  • Site tour and formal, in-person interview with SLT.
