Are you an experienced Estate Surveyor looking for a rewarding opportunity to contribute to your local community? We have an exciting role available with a respected local authority in Essex.

We're looking for a skilled Estate Surveyor with proven experience in the public sector or local government. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of property legislation, regulations, and best practices, coupled with hands-on experience in asset management, lease negotiations, acquisitions, and disposals.

Exceptional stakeholder management skills are essential, with the ability to influence at senior levels and build positive working relationships across departments. You'll also need to be proficient in preparing Cabinet reports, strategies, and policies, using your analytical skills to monitor performance and provide valuable, data-driven insights. Strong communication and negotiation skills are key, along with a customer-focused approach to delivering service excellence.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead corporate property projects, providing expert advice across council departments and contributing to the development and implementation of the Corporate Property Strategy.
  • Assist in delivering a comprehensive asset review program and devise tailored asset plans to maximize value.
  • Oversee rent reviews, lease renewals, acquisitions, disposals, and all types of property transactions arising from the asset review program.
  • Identify and pursue commercial opportunities to increase revenue through strategic property lettings.
  • Monitor asset performance against KPIs, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and best practices. Provide reports and briefing notes for Members, Portfolio Holders, and Strategic Property Boards.
  • Offer property input into broader council initiatives such as Local Plans, Public Health Programmes, Economic Development, Housing Development, and Estate Regeneration.
  • Collaborate on initiatives to reduce carbon footprint across the estate.
  • Engage with external service providers and supervise additional property expertise as needed.
  • Work closely across council directorates, building positive relationships and ensuring department-wide property needs are met.
