About the Agency:
We are a trusted recruitment agency specializing in placing education professionals in schools across Essex. We are currently looking for a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support high needs students in a local school in Chelmsford. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced teaching assistants who have a passion for supporting children with additional needs in their learning and development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tailored 1:1 support for students with high needs, including physical disabilities, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), emotional and behavioural challenges, and other learning difficulties.
- Work closely with the class teacher to implement individual learning plans (IEPs) and provide targeted support to meet each student's unique needs.
- Assist students with their personal care, mobility, and daily activities, as required.
- Foster a positive and supportive learning environment to ensure students feel safe and valued.
- Encourage and promote the students' independence, social skills, and confidence.
- Help to manage classroom behavior and provide guidance to students on a 1:1 basis.
- Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other support staff to monitor and report on student progress.
- Follow all safeguarding and school policies to ensure the well-being of the students.
Key Requirements:
- Experience working with children with high needs, including physical, emotional, and/or learning difficulties.
- A relevant qualification (e.g., Teaching Assistant Level 2 or 3, SEN qualifications, or equivalent).
- A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with additional needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- An understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A positive and proactive attitude with a passion for making a difference in students' lives.
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
