About the Agency:
We are a trusted recruitment agency specializing in placing education professionals in schools across Essex. We are currently looking for a compassionate and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant to support high needs students in a local school in Chelmsford. This is an excellent opportunity for experienced teaching assistants who have a passion for supporting children with additional needs in their learning and development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored 1:1 support for students with high needs, including physical disabilities, autism spectrum disorders (ASD), emotional and behavioural challenges, and other learning difficulties.
  • Work closely with the class teacher to implement individual learning plans (IEPs) and provide targeted support to meet each student's unique needs.
  • Assist students with their personal care, mobility, and daily activities, as required.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment to ensure students feel safe and valued.
  • Encourage and promote the students' independence, social skills, and confidence.
  • Help to manage classroom behavior and provide guidance to students on a 1:1 basis.
  • Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and other support staff to monitor and report on student progress.
  • Follow all safeguarding and school policies to ensure the well-being of the students.

Key Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with high needs, including physical, emotional, and/or learning difficulties.
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Teaching Assistant Level 2 or 3, SEN qualifications, or equivalent).
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • An understanding of safeguarding procedures and child protection policies.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • A positive and proactive attitude with a passion for making a difference in students' lives.
  • Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
