Kingswood Group is partnering with a large organisation to recruit an experienced Head of HR Shared Services, located in Chelmsford on a permanent basis. The position offers hybrid working arrangements, allowing for a mix of remote and office work.

In this role you will play a pivotal role in driving the delivery of high-quality, cost-effective HR services. You will be responsible for ensuring the HR function's effectiveness and efficiency, while also maintaining a focus on continuous improvement to meet the evolving needs of the organisation. The position requires a strategic approach to HR services, ensuring that operations remain sustainable in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Job Purpose:

  • Develop and lead the implementation of a comprehensive commercial strategy 
  • Lead on commercial development and associated growth targets 
  • Line management of 4 direct reports 
  • Manage complex communications at a senior level, including presenting, engaging, and influencing corporate and political leadership teams.
  • Be an active member of the senior leadership team, fostering collaboration and breaking down silos within the organisation.
  • Take ownership for financial performance, managing budgets, maximising income generation, and identifying cost efficiencies 
  • Maintain strong relationships with clients
  • Drive operational efficiency by implementing robust processes, monitoring service delivery, and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
  • Continuously assess and develop the portfolio of shared services, ensuring offerings remain innovative, competitive, and aligned with client requirements.

Essential requirements; 

  • Professional membership of CIPD or other relevant professional body
  • Minimum of 5 years? experience in a traded environment
  • Strong leadership and line management experience 
  • Proven HR experience at a senior level within local government
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate with corporate and political decision makers
  • Experience in establishing positive relationships across diverse settings and developing relevant Service Level Agreements to secure quality of outputs.
