We are excited to be recruiting Locum Pharmacy Technician on behalf of our client for a vital role within a prison healthcare setting. This position is an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by ensuring the effective delivery of pharmacy services to the prison population.

  • Pay Rate: £22 - £24 per hour (depending on experience)

About the Role

As a Pharmacy Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the safe administration of medication, managing pharmaceutical services, and providing essential guidance to patients, prison staff, and healthcare professionals. Working both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to improving healthcare outcomes within the prison.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Dispensing and administering medications safely and efficiently

  • Providing medicines management support

  • Educating patients on correct medication use

  • Recognising signs of drug and alcohol withdrawal and supporting affected individuals

  • Collaborating with healthcare teams, prison staff, and external organisations

  • Maintaining accurate records and ensuring compliance with security and safety regulations

What We're Looking For

Essential Skills & Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 3, BTEC, or equivalent qualification

  • Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to work both independently and within a team

  • Experience working in a fast-paced healthcare environment

Desirable Experience:

  • Previous experience in a prison or secure healthcare setting (The client is willing to get you prison cleared)

  • Background in multidisciplinary healthcare teams
