Waste Procurement Buyer
Our client in the waste management sector are looking to strengthen their team with a Buyer. Procuring services across the UK, with a focus on quality and price, and strong supplier relationships, this is an exciting role for an individual with a good grounding in purchasing and procurement practices.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and managing third-party waste disposal and recycling service providers. You’ll play a key role in securing competitive rates, ensuring compliance, and driving procurement efficiencies.
Duties include:
- Identify, evaluate, and onboard new waste disposal and recycling service providers.
- Negotiate pricing and service agreements to secure cost-effective solutions
- Build and maintain strong supplier relationships for optimal service delivery.
- Manage subcontractor procurement within the waste management broker model.
- Oversee procurement processes to obtain competitive rates for hazardous & non-hazardous waste services.
- Conduct supplier due diligence to verify legal and environmental compliance.
- Support sales teams accurate costings and pricing strategy discussions.
- Ensure compliance with UK environmental regulations, including Duty of Care and Waste Carrier Licences.
- Resolve service issues and assist with escalations.
- Support sales teams with accurate costings and pricing strategy discussions.
- Manage bids and tenders, analysing supplier proposals for best value.
- Analyse procurement data to identify cost-saving opportunities.
We are looking for:
- Proven experience in supply chain and waste management procurement.
- Strong negotiation skills with a successful track record in supplier management.
- Expertise in both hazardous & non-hazardous waste services.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, target-driven environment.
- Excellent problem-solving, data analysis, and communication skills.
