A vacancy has become available for a business looking for an Area Sales Manager.

This position is a mixture of new and existing business with the emphasis on growing new customer accounts.

With a team of 18 across the business and reporting to the National Sales Manager this vacancy will support the growth in Southwest of England.

The purpose of the role is to sell the business product portfolio through the existing customers on the area while also finding new business. To be successful in this position you will be a self-motivated and a target driven individual with proven sales experience. Along with a strong commercial awareness and excellent communication skills, you will have the competitive desire and drive to succeed and gain results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure sales and growth targets are achieved and exceeded.
  • Maintain and develop strong customer relationships, ensuring customer enquiries are dealt with efficiently as well as developing and maintaining effective relationships with the distribution partner branches their sales engineers and their customer base.
  • Continued new business development of the area with a strong focus on identifying new or potential customers, supporting the partners in customers to upsell company products.
  • Increase and maintain awareness of local market conditions and feedback on competitor activity in the area.
  • Strong focus on generating new business and driving specification.
  • Desire to identify and understand end user applications, projects and the needs of consultants on your area.
  • Able to prepare and present sales presentations.

Key Attributes

  • Mechanical Engineering background – ONC/HNC/Degree or equivalent OR previous experience selling a technical product
  • Good understanding of the distribution, electrical, automation and process marketplace.
  • A proven track record in solution sales
  • IT Literate specifically in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full clean driving license, to attend customer sites as required
  • Driven to provide a high level of customer service and building strong working relationships
  • Preferable to have previous experience in maintaining a CRM system
  • A team player
