An independent, forward-thinking construction consultancy in Cheltenham is seeking an experienced Principal Designer to join their team, contributing expertise in health and safety consultancy across diverse construction projects.

This is an exciting opportunity for a Principal Designer who is eager to play a vital role in a growing consultancy known for its commitment to safety excellence and innovative project delivery.

The Principal Designer Role

The successful Principal Designer will work alongside an experienced team of consultants and project managers, focusing on risk management, CDM compliance, and client advisory services.

You'll be responsible for overseeing the pre-construction phase, conducting design risk reviews, compiling essential documentation and ensuring projects meet CDM 2015 regulations.

The Principal Designer will engage with clients to identify and mitigate design and construction risks and lead workshops and training sessions for team members and clients. This role promises a broad portfolio of projects spanning residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, providing an enriching variety to develop your expertise.

The Principal Designer

  • Proven experience in a Principal Designer role within a consultancy setting.
  • NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety, ideally with TechIOSH or APS accreditation.
  • Comprehensive understanding of CDM regulations and construction design risk management.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to advise clients on compliance and safety measures effectively.
  • Background in construction or architectural design with a proactive approach to safety leadership.
