About the Job:

As a Senior Commercial Lawyer, you will have the chance to support our client in making a real difference to the global problem of climate change. You will play a crucial role in managing legal risks for a company that is undergoing extensive growth and transformation.

What will you spend your day on at our client?

Drafting and negotiating contracts with business partners, suppliers, and customers
Providing legal advice and support on various matters such as contracts, compliance, intellectual property, employment law, and corporate governance
Managing a suite of standard contract templates to support project development
Collaborating closely with the management team to provide legal support for future growth
Monitoring and ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
Providing general and commercial legal support to businesses within the group
Identifying and mitigating risk areas in collaboration with relevant stakeholders across the business
Assisting with company secretarial matters and document management
Becoming an expert resource for the group on complex regulation in the electricity sector
Assisting with the delivery of risk management strategies and compliance across the company

What skills do you need to succeed in this role?

Qualified lawyer with a strong academic background
Experience practising commercial law, preferably in the energy or construction sector
Renewable energy experience is preferred, but a strong interest in the sector would be enough for the right person
Knowledge of contract law, corporate law, and compliance
Knowledge of the regulatory landscape in the electricity storage and/or generation sectors, or demonstrable experience in managing complex regulatory issues, would be a significant advantage
Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills
Self-starter with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Ability to act with a high level of integrity, confidentiality, and discretion
Self-motivated with the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
Strong commercial awareness
