SEMH Teacher - Primary

£123-154 per day

It’s your time to shine and make a difference. Working with children with SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) needs, you’ll be in a specialist provision aimed at increasing opportunities with an ambitious curriculum to small classes of KS1 and KS2 pupils.

The school is part of a large multi-academy trust that has 57 schools across the UK. Every child can achieve their potential and find their own remarkable. There are excellent progression and training opportunities and the staff team within the school are incredibly supportive. It is natural that as an SEMH teacher, there will be challenges, but the validation of the profession comes from the untold rewarding moments where a child hits their own unique milestones.

How will you do this?

Understanding the purpose and approach of the school will be key, you will go home knowing you have made a difference to the children’s lives and education. You won’t be bogged down with planning and the curriculum, simply deliver lessons that have already been planned. You will be able to see the bigger picture and tailor lessons to meet different areas of focus and importance for the child(ren).

What you will need:

Alongside your unwavering passion and interest in the field you will need:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or relevant teaching qualifications.
  • Experience or intertest of working within a SEN/SEMH setting is a plus but not essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Differentiate instruction to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities within the classroom.
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, including teaching assistants, therapists, and support staff, to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Develop and implement Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs) for children with SEMH, regularly reviewing and updating as necessary.
  • Foster positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues, promoting effective communication and partnership.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching strategies and resources to engage and inspire students with SEMH, promoting a love for learning.
  • Monitor and track student progress, providing regular feedback to parents and SENCo.
