My clients are looking to appoint a Quantity Surveyor on a three-month temporary contract basis to be based at their regional office in Gateshead. My clients are a multiple disciplined construction business with this role sitting in their Highways department.

Reporting directly to the Senior Quantity Surveyor the role of Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for preparing and articulating competent plans for any scale of project that comply with Company and functional procedures and standards.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Overseeing the measurement and preparation of valuations
  • Preparing and agreeing interim valuations and final accounts
  • Recording, monitoring and reviewing the financial performance of contracts
  • Managing financial accounts and report to senior management on the project performance
  • Liaising and presenting to the client on the project performance
  • Securing payments from customers within the specified contract terms
  • Subcontract procurement and management of subcontractor accounts
  • Pre-contract pricing and agreement project costs.
  • Mentor subordinate staff


Skills, Experience & Qualifications:

  • Relevant HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying
  • Experience of using the NEC forms of contract
  • Experience of highway projects
  • Drive and ambition to succeed
  • Good interpersonal skills as well as good oral and written communication skills
  • Numeracy and analytical ability
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Commercial awareness
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in the use of MS Office
  • Appropriate CSCS card -desirable
  • Valid Driving licence
