Help us to make a world of difference
Urenco is a global leader in the production of low carbon energy. We work at the cutting edge of the transition to a sustainable, net zero world.
We’re looking for a Quality Engineer with an electrical bias to join our team at the Capenhurst/Birchwood site. In this key role, you will support, control, and inspect technical processes to ensure a high standard of quality across the organisation. Your expertise in electrical engineering will play a critical role in embedding quality throughout every phase of our projects and operations.
At Urenco, we’re committed to helping you be your best. Even if you meet some but not all of the qualifications, we still encourage you to apply. We believe in the passion and potential of our people and offer leading training and development opportunities, as well as the chance to be mentored by some of the brightest minds in the industry.
What Will Your Day Look Like?
As a Quality Engineer with an electrical bias, your responsibilities will include:
- Quality Control Plans (QCPs): Establish, apply, and maintain comprehensive quality control plans, ensuring they are effectively implemented within electrical systems and projects.
- Data Analysis: Analyse medium to complex electrical system data to inform decisions and drive precise execution, ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Project Involvement: Participate in the design and implementation phases of electrical engineering projects, ensuring quality is embedded at every stage, from concept to completion.
- Continuous Improvement: Lead and drive continuous improvement initiatives, using quality data to resolve issues and enhance electrical processes and performance.
- Lessons Learned: Capture, document, and apply lessons learned from quality-related incidents within electrical engineering projects to avoid recurrence and improve future operations.
- Regulatory Compliance: Stay updated on the latest regulatory requirements specific to electrical engineering and coach internal teams on their application and proper usage.
- Audits and Assessments: Conduct and support internal and external audits, evaluations, and assessments to ensure compliance with ISO, ASTM, DIN, BSI, and other relevant standards.
- Supplier Quality Management: Perform supplier inspections, particularly for electrical components and systems, to ensure they meet Urenco’s requirements and project expectations.
What Do You Need to Thrive in This Role?
- Technical Background: A solid foundation in electrical engineering, with a clear understanding of technical business processes within electrical systems.
- Standards Expertise: In-depth knowledge of international quality standards, including ISO, ASTM, DIN, and BSI, with specific experience in electrical and technical industries.
- Quality Control Experience: Proven experience in establishing and maintaining quality control processes, including the development of integrated QCPs for electrical systems and components.
- Certification & Auditing: Experience with certification processes in the electrical engineering field and the ability to conduct quality audits and supplier inspections for electrical projects.
- Data Analysis Skills: Ability to analyse complex electrical data sets and use them to make informed decisions that improve quality and compliance.
- Problem-Solving: Strong skills in root cause analysis (RCA) and problem-solving, with a track record of driving improvements based on electrical quality issues.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Up-to-date knowledge of relevant electrical quality and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance across all stages of the project lifecycle.
- Project Involvement: Experience supporting and influencing quality throughout the project lifecycle, from electrical design to delivery, ensuring adherence to high standards.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex electrical information clearly to internal teams and external partners.
Desirable Skills:
- Risk Management: Familiarity with risk-based approaches to quality, such as FMEA (Failure Mode and Effects Analysis) and RCA (Root Cause Analysis) specific to electrical engineering.
- Supplier Relationship Management: Experience managing and improving supplier quality standards for electrical components, building strong relationships to drive performance.
- Continuous Improvement Tools: Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma, or other process improvement methodologies applicable to electrical engineering.
- Language Skills: Proficiency in German is a bonus, alongside fluent English.
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel as part of the role, including international travel.Â
