Sample Reception Technician - Laboratory Data ManagementLocation: ChesterContract: Temporary (with potential to become permanent)Salary: c£24,000 (37 hour week)
We are looking for a diligent and detail-oriented individual to join our team as a Sample Reception Technician. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced, methodical environment and plays a key role in ensuring the integrity of the data behind our industrial fluid analysis. No prior experience is required, but a passion for organisation and accuracy is essential.
In this role, you will be the first point of contact for all incoming samples, responsible for logging them into the system, verifying details, and ensuring that all checks are made before they move into the analysis stage. Using our Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), you will be the gatekeeper for data accuracy and sample integrity, helping to ensure everything is recorded correctly for seamless processing. While this is a temporary position initially, there’s potential for the role to become permanent based on business needs and performance.
What you'll do:
- Sample Reception: Log incoming samples into the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS), ensuring accurate details and proper documentation for each sample.
- Checks & Validation: Carry out necessary checks to ensure the samples meet required criteria before moving forward into analysis, verifying that all information is correct and complete.
- Data Integrity: Maintain the integrity of sample and data records, ensuring everything is logged accurately and in accordance with company protocols and regulatory standards.
- Organisational Excellence: Maintain an organised system for sample storage and tracking, ensuring all samples are processed in an efficient, timely manner.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the analytical team to ensure samples are processed smoothly and that the analysis team has the correct information for testing.
- Continuous Improvement: Help identify opportunities for improving the sample reception process and contribute to enhancing overall laboratory efficiency.
Your background:
- Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to tasks.
- Excellent organisational skills, with the ability to manage high volumes of samples and data.
- Comfortable using Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) or similar data management tools (experience a plus, but not essential).
- A proactive attitude, able to take ownership of tasks and ensure data integrity is maintained at all stages.
- Good communication skills, both written and verbal, to interact effectively with colleagues.
- Ideally, you will have a background in chemistry or a related scientific field, but we’re open to applicants who have a keen interest in working within a laboratory environment.
- Previous experience in a laboratory or data management role is desirable but not essential.
This is an entry-level role, making it perfect for someone who is eager to start their career in the scientific industry, particularly those who are recent graduates with a chemistry degree or equivalent qualification. If you are based in or around the Chester area, we’d love to hear from you. A driving license is advantageous due to client location, but there are public transport links and cycle-to-work options available. On this occasion, LiCa Scientific is acting as an employment business.
