Your new companyHays Recruitment are proud to be supporting a well-established and Ofsted-rated "Good" SEND school in Chester that supports pupils between the ages of 2 - 19 with an array of complex and profound SEN as they are looking to appoint a number of motivated and reliable teaching assistants to support a number of different pupils and classes across the school. This is a long-term full-time contract with hours consisting of 8:30am - 3:30pm starting 22/04/2025.Your new roleAs a teaching assistant within this school, you will be supporting pupils with SEN on a 1:1 basis across the school. As you will be supporting SEN you will be required to take a pupil-centred approach to education, not only to ensure that their EHCP's are met, but to ensure that their needs (both attainment and physical) are at the heart of all operations. With a large number of pupils being non-verbal, you will use PECs, Makaton and various visual aids to communicate. You will implement a myriad of positive behaviour strategies to promote learning, engagement and to enable you to effectively monitor and identify triggers. What you'll need to succeedTo be considered with your application, you must have full "Right to Work" in the UK as well as a minimum of 40 days referencebale experience supporting pupils between the ages of 2 - 19 within the last 2 years, as well as:

  • Experience supporting complex needs including ASD, LD and non-verbal
  • Experience using PECs and Makaton is advantageous
  • An NVQ Level 2 Supporting Teaching and Learning qualification is advantageous but not essential
