Sewell Wallis are working with a dynamic and growing organisation in Chesterfield looking to recruit a qualified Finance Director. With a strong commercial presence, they are focused on long-term success and are seeking an ambitious Finance Director to drive their next phase of growth.

This role would suit an experienced Financial Controller looking for their first step into a number one role, or an established Finance Director eager to make a lasting impact on a business with ambitious plans.

What will you be doing?

Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Finance Director will oversee all financial aspects of business operations. This hands-on role involves leading a finance team while providing strategic financial guidance to support business growth.

  • Lead and manage the finance team, ensuring accurate and timely financial operations.
  • Oversee financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
  • Develop and implement financial strategies aligned with business goals.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and strengthen financial controls.
  • Provide insightful financial analysis to identify key trends, risks, and opportunities.
  • Support acquisition processes, corporate finance activities, and working capital management.
  • Collaborate with the Managing Director and senior leadership team to drive profitability.
  • Engage with external stakeholders, including investors, banks, and auditors.

What skills are we looking for?

  • ACA/ACCA/CIMA qualification
  • Experience in a Finance Director role, or an experienced Financial Controller ready to step up
  • Strong commercial understanding, ideally within manufacturing or a fast-paced industry
  • Experience in acquisitions, due diligence, and private equity transactions
  • A proactive, strategic mindset with excellent leadership skills
