Carbon60 are currently looking for a Trainee Operative to work for a client of ours based in Chesterfield. This position is a 12 week temp - perm. The purpose of this role is to work in the Coil Winding department taping the coils. This role is very fiddly and requires patient.

Role Responsibilities will include:

  • Coil Taping
  • Repair motors, make new coils for motor repairs, trains, power stations, water boards,
  • The team process is Building new coils from scratch from bare copper
  • Somebody that could tape the coils- final process before testing
  • Coils made, and shaped already - new hire needed for coil taping
  • Start off reel of copper, cut into lengths, shaped into armature, horseshoe shape or diamond coil, different processes taken with different coils, small coils to London underground trains to huge coils for power stations, all different processes
  • Final part before testing is taping, two layers of different types of tape wrapped round, create layer of insulation for coil
  • Trying to multi-skill everyone on site, can be trained on different processes if willing to climb up the ladder


Essential skills / experience / qualifications:

  • Somebody willing to be hands on
  • Prior experience in engineering environment desirable but not essential
  • Taping is a fiddly process so someone with manual dexterity and finite motor skills required
  • No exact essential skills
  • No exact skills/eng exp or environment required
  • Judging skills/attitude to work on call


Hours of work:

07:45am - 4pm Monday to Thursday
07:45am - 2:15pm Fridays, 30-minute lunch per day - 37 hours/week
