GSL Education are recruiting a dedicated and compassionate SEN Primary Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to work within a supportive Primary SEN School in Chesterfield. If you have experience working with students who have a range of SEN needs, including Autism (ASC), ADHD, and SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health), this is a fantastic opportunity to make a lasting impact.

About the Role:

As an SEN Primary Teaching Assistant, you will provide crucial support to primary-aged students with varying SEN needs. You will assist in both academic learning and personal development, ensuring students are able to access the curriculum in a way that suits their individual needs. This role involves both one-to-one and small group support, tailored to enhance each student's learning experience.

SEN Primary Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to primary-aged students with various SEN needs.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individual learning plans (ILPs) and personalised interventions.
  • Promote positive behaviour strategies, using reinforcement techniques to encourage self-regulation and focus.
  • Help students with personal care and mobility needs as required.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to ensure each student receives the appropriate level of support.
  • Support students in building independence, self-confidence, and social skills.
  • Provide emotional and social support, promoting a positive atmosphere within the classroom.

SEN Primary Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) Job Requirements:

  • Experience working with SEN students, particularly in a primary school setting.
  • Must be a driver as travel may be required between different sites or locations.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience, with a genuine passion for helping students with SEN.
  • Strong understanding of a variety of SEN conditions, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, and MLD.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Previous experience in a classroom setting or working with children is desirable.
  • Have an updated CV (covering the last ten years barring any unexplained gaps) and an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service (or be willing to apply for one).
