Hygiene Manager Opportunity – Join our team and lead the charge in maintaining the highest hygiene compliance and standards! In this pivotal role, you’ll oversee and inspire the hygiene team to ensure that both our site and customer standards are consistently met and exceeded. You’ll collaborate closely with department managers and teams, driving excellence in hygiene operations.

Nature’s Way Foods is the leading manufacturer of prepared salads, coleslaw and “food-to-go” for supermarkets and retailers, and as such we work closely with farmers across Europe. But there’s lots more to us than the products we make.

Key responsibilities

  • Ensure that the production area and all peripheral sections of the factory are cleaned to an outstanding standard, fostering a pristine working environment
  • Educate and train your team on best practices for cleaning procedures and hygiene standards, promoting a culture of excellence in cleanliness
  • Guarantee that the team follows meticulous procedures when dismantling, cleaning, and reassembling machines. This includes ensuring protective covers are securely placed on machines and that all sockets and screens are bagged to prevent water ingress during cleaning
  • Oversee the accurate rebuilding of production lines in line with the production plan, ensuring minimal downtime
  • Manage your team effectively by delegating tasks based on individual skill sets, providing clear, detailed instructions to ensure a seamless workflow
  • Identify any skills gaps within the team and provide targeted training as needed to enhance overall team performance
  • Ensure all relevant documentation, including Cleaning Instruction Cards (CICs), is completed, up to date, and maintained to ensure full compliance
  • Actively participate in hygiene audits, both internal and external, ensuring the team and facility are always audit-ready
  • Monitor and manage stock levels of cleaning materials and chemicals to ensure availability, while balancing cost control and expenditure
  • Ensure that Health and Food Safety Standards are strictly adhered to, and wherever possible, surpass the set requirements

Experience/skills required

  • Proven experience in a compliance and standards-driven environment, particularly within British Retail Consortium (BRC) frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) regulations, ensuring safe handling and use of chemicals.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current hygiene legislation, staying informed of the latest industry standards and requirements.
  • In-depth awareness of Health and Safety legislation and regulations, ensuring a safe and compliant workplace.
  • Certified in Food Safety Level 3, demonstrating advanced expertise in maintaining food hygiene standards.
  • Extensive experience leading and managing a Hygiene Department, driving operational excellence and fostering a culture of cleanliness.
