About the Role

We’re looking for a Senior Occupational Therapist to join a modern mental health treatment unit in Cardiff.

The facility offers:

  • Secure gardens, a gym, practice kitchens, sensory and social areas, art rooms, and more.
  • Bespoke treatment packages across three wards for patients with complex mental health needs.
  • A homely, modern environment designed to promote independence and recovery, supported by an experienced multi-disciplinary team (MDT).

Your Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Occupational Therapist, you’ll:

  • Deliver group and one-to-one therapeutic, occupational, and recreational activities on the wards, hospital grounds, and in the community.
  • Manage and supervise Therapy Assistants and junior staff, ensuring a high-quality, patient-centered service.
  • Provide creative and motivating interventions to help patients improve their occupational skills and mental wellbeing.
  • Assess, intervene, and evaluate progress in line with MDT care plans.

Additional Duties:

  • Reduce restrictive interventions.
  • Maintain accurate clinical notes.
  • Demonstrate excellent planning and time management skills.
  • Engage in team meetings and regular supervision.

What You’ll Need

  • Qualification: Degree or Diploma in Occupational Therapy and HCPC registration.
  • Experience: At least 2 years in a healthcare setting, ideally working with mental health or challenging behaviors.
  • Desirable Skills: Sensory Integration Training (training opportunities will be available).

Strong leadership, communication, and creative problem-solving skills are essential.
