About Us

Purple Lime seeks to change the way businesses use and interact with their financial data. We are the outsourced accounting and finance service for ambitious businesses, providing expertise from day-to-day bookkeeping, through to strategic board-level accounting and financial advice.

Our proposition is based on utilising the latest cloud technology available within the accounting sector to efficiently capture and report the financial data and performance of our clients. We use a suite of technologies based around Xero accounting software.

As part of our offering, we also provide the more traditional accountancy services such as year-end accounts, taxation services and payroll processing.

Role

The position we are recruiting for is an experienced Accountant/Management Accountant. The role requires a qualified accountant with sound technical knowledge, the ability to manage their own workload, have good commercial awareness, and the ability to effectively communicate and form trusted relationships with clients and fellow team members.

The position will initially line-manage one to two Assistant Accountants.

The successful applicant will have a keen eye for financial processes within an accounts department and not be afraid to adopt a questioning mind. They should be confident of suggesting better, more efficient ways for tasks to be donefinding solutions as opposed to focusing on problems.

Desired Technical Characteristics

The successful person will have a wide range of technical accounting knowledge and capability.

The key competencies required by the role are:

  • statutory compliance (annual accounts, taxation, and company secretarial)
  • sound knowledge of accounting standards financial reporting, including experience of working with trial balances, balance sheets and charts of account
  • production of management information (management accounts, KPI reporting etc)
  • clear and confident communication with clients and other stakeholders
  • effective business planning using forecasting and modelling
  • good leadership qualities

Overview of Duties

  • Managing a portfolio of clients with lead accounting and finance input
  • Preparing business plans & forecasts with clients using Excel and/or dedicated forecasting software
  • Being responsible for the production, review and submission of annual statutory accounts, confirmation statements and all other compliance, including Research & Development tax claims
  • Conducting pre-year end checks with clients to identify risks and opportunities available to individuals and companies in terms of financial reporting and tax planning
  • Identifying tax efficient planning opportunities for clients and delivering through to completion (eg, EIS investment, EMI share incentive plans etc.)
  • Producing monthly management information, tailored to clientsrequirements - and debriefing this to the management team of the client. Reports generally take the form of one of the following: Management accounts pack and presentations, KPI Dashboards, Operational & financial briefing reports
  • Attending client board meetings to present, review financial performance and set strategic goals for the upcoming period
  • Reconciling balance sheet accounts periodically and maintaining clear supporting schedulesincluding posting month-end accounting journals such as prepayments and accruals
  • Assisting clients with training and consultancy advice
  • Identifying potential opportunities for providing additional services to existing clients, and services to new clients
  • Overseeing Assistant Accountants with their responsibilities, prioritising workload (bookkeeping, payrolls, VAT Returns, accounts etc) and supporting them with their personal development plans

Package

Salary is dependent on skills, experience, and qualifications. Pension after probation, IT equipment, branded t-shirt and a few socials a year is also included! You will be rewarded 1 additional days holiday for every year of service with us, up to a maximum of 5 days. We ask that the core hours (10am to 4pm) are covered for a better client service, but we offer flexibility in your working day around these hours.

We are also proud to be able to offer a profit-sharing arrangement to all members of staff assuming various targets are met by the business and individuals. This is in addition to basic remuneration and will be discussed further at interview.

Location

Purple Lime are located in a newly refurbished office in Callow Park, Brinkworth where youll find beautiful rural views and a pool and ping-pong table in the break room. Having a cloud-based platform allows for flexible working and we currently operate a hybrid working model between office and remote.

Our clients are largely based in and around Wiltshire, Bath, Bristol, Cardiff, and London. Our clients range from gastropubs to innovators in the medical sector.

Experience

Experience as a qualified accountant in industry and/or practice. Experience required in preparing management and year-end statutory accounts and liaising with clients on the results. The successful candidate will be ACCA/ACA/CIMA/ICAEW qualified.
