We have an exciting opportunity that has arisen for a Management Accountant to join our team here at Whitehall Garden Centres. This is an office based role working Monday to Friday in our premises in Lacock, Chippenham.

Qualified by experience, Qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA or Part qualified, this role is seeking a strong people person to manage a small team.

Key Responsibilities:

The role will be expected to undertake day-to-day oversight and management related to the accounting activity within Whitehall, with responsibility for the following activities:

  • Preparation of consolidated monthly management accounts in a timely manner, including but not limited to, profit and loss reports, balance sheets, board reports and cash flow forecasts
  • Assist the FD in producing monthly and annual financial accounts.
  • Review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, and profit and loss analysis across all group companies.
  • Submission of VAT Returns
  • Daily cash flow
  • Daily bank rec
  • Reconciliation of daily sales and customer receipts
  • Line management of small team
  • Managing the annual audit
  • Involvement in improvements to internal processes and improving efficiencies within the team.

Skills required:

  • Strong knowledge of financial accounting principles and practices
  • Experience working in a small/medium company in a similar role
  • Excellent communication skills, strong commercial awareness
  • Self-motivated with lots of initiative
  • Sage 200 experience
  • Advanced Excel skills and general I.T confidence with new systems
  • Analytical and problem solving skills
