CASALI Recruitment Ltd are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join one of our local engineering clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating various manual machining equipment to produce high-quality components. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong mechanical knowledge, and the ability to interpret technical drawings. The Manual Machinist will play a crucial role in ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.
Responsibilities
- Operate manual lathes, milling machines, and other machining equipment to manufacture parts according to specifications.
- Interpret engineering drawings and CAD models to determine machining processes and tooling requirements.
- Assemble components and perform necessary adjustments to ensure proper fit and function.
- Conduct regular maintenance on machinery and tools to ensure optimal performance.
- Utilise basic maths skills for measurements, calculations, and adjustments during the machining process.
- Grind, weld, and perform finishing operations on machined parts as required.
- Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and improve production efficiency.
- Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.
Skills
- Proficiency in using CAD software for design interpretation (SolidWorks experience is advantageous).
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate power tools effectively.
- Familiarity with tooling techniques and processes relevant to manual machining.
- Ability to perform basic maths calculations related to measurements and tolerances.
- Experience in grinding, welding, and plastics injection moulding is desirable but not essential.
- Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
