CASALI Recruitment Ltd are seeking a skilled Manual Machinist to join one of our local engineering clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for operating various manual machining equipment to produce high-quality components. This role requires a keen eye for detail, strong mechanical knowledge, and the ability to interpret technical drawings. The Manual Machinist will play a crucial role in ensuring that production targets are met while maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Operate manual lathes, milling machines, and other machining equipment to manufacture parts according to specifications.
  • Interpret engineering drawings and CAD models to determine machining processes and tooling requirements.
  • Assemble components and perform necessary adjustments to ensure proper fit and function.
  • Conduct regular maintenance on machinery and tools to ensure optimal performance.
  • Utilise basic maths skills for measurements, calculations, and adjustments during the machining process.
  • Grind, weld, and perform finishing operations on machined parts as required.
  • Collaborate with team members to troubleshoot issues and improve production efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment in accordance with health and safety regulations.

Skills

  • Proficiency in using CAD software for design interpretation (SolidWorks experience is advantageous).
  • Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to operate power tools effectively.
  • Familiarity with tooling techniques and processes relevant to manual machining.
  • Ability to perform basic maths calculations related to measurements and tolerances.
  • Experience in grinding, welding, and plastics injection moulding is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
