  • Our client, a well-established manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced HSE Advisor to coordinate the Health, Safety, and Environmental agenda at their Chippenham site.
  • The role requires a minimum of three years of experience in a Health & Safety position within a production or manufacturing environment.
  • The salary for this position will be determined based on the candidate's experience.
  • The HSE Advisor will be responsible for implementing safety policies, conducting audits, and advising management on compliance with current legislation.
  • Occasional travel to other sites in the UK will be necessary, likely once or twice every few months.

Our client is a successful and well-established manufacturing company with sites nationwide.  They are looking for an experienced HSE Advisor / Health Safety and Environmental Manager / HSE Officer to join them to coordinate the HSE agenda across the Chippenham site. This HS&E Advisor / Health Safety and Environmental Adviser role may cover multiple South West based sites in the future, but will start with just this one.

Salary depending on experience (to be confirmed)

Hours of work: Day working hours, Monday to Friday

NOTE – Occasional travel to another site in the UK will be required (likely once or twice every few months.

Responsibilities:

•    To ensure the Company’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies are implemented consistently
•    To monitor, evaluate and review Health, Safety and Environmental policies, practice and legal compliance. Make recommendations and implement new policies and procedures as required
•    To advise the Senior Management Team on the implications of current and emerging Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, including evaluating options for implementation
•    Make recommendations and generate actions plans to ensure compliance across the organisation
•    Support managers to maintain safe systems, providing specialist advice, coaching and practical support
•    Carry out audits, evaluate the effectiveness of Health, Safety and Environmental systems and procedures, identify and implement improvements where necessary
•    Manage and maintain the accurate reporting of Health, Safety and Environmental Leading and Lagging performance indicators, providing dashboard reports where required
•    Proactively identify and present Health, Safety and Environmental improvement opportunities on Site, Territory and Business Unit levels
•    Lead, train, coach and support site staff in the field of Health, Safety and Environmental improvement
•    Proactively identify and share best practices with other Health, Safety and Environmental Team members across the organisation
•    Coordinate the issuing of notifications where required to the Health & Safety Executive
•    To investigate, or where appropriate, to assist others to investigate the circumstances and causes of accidents and events. Support actions to take necessary steps to prevent a recurrence

Requirements: 

•    Essential: A relevant professional qualification e.g. IOSH certificate, NEBOSH diploma.
•    Essential: Experience as a Health & Safety professional in a production / manufacturing environment.
•    Desirable: A chartered member of the Institute of Occupational Safety and Health (CMIOSH).
•    Desirable: Continuous Improvement knowledge and training (green belt level)
•    Working knowledge of current Health, Safety and Environmental legislation and its application in a manufacturing environment.
•    Knowledge and a proven track record of delivery of health, safety and environmental management systems and the provision of advice 
•    Excellent written and interpersonal skills and the ability to challenge constructively.
•    Effective team working and networking skills and the ability to work independently using own initiative.
•    Personal commitment to the corporate values and objectives of the company, and a culture of continuous improvement.

This role could also suit people with previous experience as a Health & Safety Quality Advisor / HSEQ / QHSE / Health & Safety Manager / Health & Safety Quality Advisor / SHEQ / HSQE / HSEQ / QHSE / Health Safety and Environmental Adviser / H&S Co-ordinator / HSE Officer / Health Safety and Environmental Advisor / etc.
