As an Estimator, you will be responsible for providing accurate cost estimates and supporting the bid and tender process for rail and civil engineering projects. You will work closely with the project management, engineering, and procurement teams to ensure our proposals are competitive and comprehensive.
Key Responsibilities:- Prepare detailed cost estimates, including materials, labor, and equipment.
- Analyse project requirements, drawings, and specifications to assess scope and risks.
- Collaborate with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing.
- Develop and maintain a database of cost rates and project benchmarks.
- Participate in pre-tender meetings and site visits to gather relevant project information.
- Support the bid team in producing high-quality tender submissions.
- Review and validate estimates to ensure alignment with project goals and budget constraints.
- Provide value engineering solutions to optimise project delivery.
- Proven experience as an Estimator in the rail or civil engineering sectors.
- Strong understanding of construction methodologies, project sequencing, and industry standards.
- Proficiency in estimation software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational abilities.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Relevant qualifications in construction, civil engineering, or a related field (e.g., HNC, HND, or degree).
