Imperial Recruitment are delighted to be supporting our client in the search for a Principal Electrical Engineer to join a dynamic and growing engineering team. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects across a range of sectors including chemicals, oil & gas, petrochemicals, and power generation.

As Principal Electrical Engineer, you will support the delivery of technically complex projects, provide leadership within the electrical discipline, and contribute to business development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver defined electrical engineering tasks to the highest standard, aligned with project requirements and industry regulations.
  • Act as Lead Engineer on appropriate projects, ensuring scope and budgets are met.
  • Provide technical leadership and support across the electrical engineering discipline.
  • Participate in the design, specification, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems.
  • Support the development of proposals for new business opportunities and consultancy work.
  • Assist in design assurance and ensure quality standards are met across projects.
  • Develop and review technical documentation including specifications, datasheets, and reports.
  • Analyse performance data, troubleshoot electrical systems, and provide improvement recommendations.
  • Participate in the rollout and adherence to engineering procedures and standards.
  • Support resource and competence management within the electrical team.

Education & Experience

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Have significant experience across Pre-FEED, FEED, and EPC phases of projects.
  • Possess strong HV and LV system design expertise.
  • Be well-versed in electrical design standards, legislation, and hazardous area classification.
  • Demonstrate hands-on experience with electrical equipment design and commissioning.
  • Have excellent analytical and report-writing skills.
  • Be confident reading and interpreting schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Understand project control, change management, and compliance processes.

  • Proven ability to make technical decisions independently, balancing safety, budget, and timelines.

Benefits:

  • Annual bonus - up to 9%

  • Hybrid working with minimum 3 days in the office.
  • Flexible working hours, 37.5 hours per week with contracted working hours of 08:30-17:00 (1 hour break), but can have a flexible start/finish time/break around core hours of 9-4 mon-thu and 9-2 Friday.
