Service Transition Manager - 12 Month FTC

  • Up to £57,000 (depending on experience)
  • Based in South of England
  • Hybrid Working

Our client is a leading University in South East of England. They are offering an exceptional opportunity to join their Service Transition Team within the IT department on a 2 year FTC.

As a Service Transition Manager, you will own, develop, and champion the Service Transition process, including change, release, and deployment processes. Your role ensures that IT services are operable, recoverable, and maintainable by Service Delivery teams and transition effectively to operational support. You will lead the transition of major projects into production, ensuring all service governance and support elements are accepted and seamless.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the successful transition of services and products from development into operational support, enabling the organisation to get the maximum possible value from its IT services.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to lead the redevelopment and continuous improvement of a structured model for service transitions.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the IT Portfolio & Governance group to ensure the successful delivery of the portfolio of change initiatives.
  • Demonstrate experience in leading service transitions in a complex IT environment.
  • Understand service management frameworks or methodologies, including change and release management.
  • Exhibit excellent communication skills, enabling effective collaboration with technical team members and project managers.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Professional qualification or postgraduate degree in Change Management, Project Management, or IT discipline.
  • In-depth understanding of service transition frameworks, principles, and processes.
  • Proven project and people management skills.
  • Experience with ITIL methodologies and service management platforms (e.g., ServiceNow).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Visio, Excel, Word, MS Project).
  • APMG Change Management Practitioner or similar qualification.
  • Technical IT background.
  • Familiarity with IT in a Higher Education environment.
  • ITIL v4MP (Managing Professional) qualification or similar.
  • Lean Six Sigma qualification.
  • PRINCE2 qualification or experience with Agile project management.
