GSL Education are supporting a local school in Christchurch in seeking a Full Time Teaching Support Assistant for September/ October 2024.

As a Teaching Support Assistant, you will be providing necessary support and contributing to the growth and development of primary school students. Although the school is mainstream primary, you will be supporting students with Special Education Needs on a 1:1 and small group basis. Therefore, any previous experience or knowledge of SEN is extremely desirable. This role will be supporting the class teacher with delivery of lessons, ensuring that all pupils are engaged and can access the learning. This will include facilitating and planning small group interventions to ensure that effective provision is in p[lace for children who are working below age-related expectations.

The ideal Teaching Support Assistant candidate will have relevant school and TA experience, a genuine love for young children and education, patience and empathy to work with challenging pupils. The position is open for candidates who are looking for permanent work.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Engage in classroom activities by collaborating with teachers to enhance the learning experience for primary school students.
  • Focus on personalised student support, reinforcing concepts and assisting in their academic journey.
  • Promote a positive and inclusive atmosphere, encouraging positive behaviour and contributing to a supportive school community.
  • Assist in organising and preparing teaching materials, ensuring the classroom is equipped for effective learning.
  • Collaborate closely with teaching staff and other support assistants to enrich the educational environment and contribute to the school's success.
