Learning Support Assistant - Clacton-on-Sea
Full-Time | Starting After May Half-Term | 88 - 130 per day
The Role
A vibrant and inclusive primary school in Clacton-on-Sea is seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant to join their team after the May half-term due to a staff member beginning early maternity leave.
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, on a long-term contract with the opportunity to apply for a permanent post in the next academic year. Trial days are taking place after the Easter break.
What You'll Be Doing
- Delivering focused 1:1 and small group support to pupils, particularly those with additional learning needs.
- Working alongside class teachers to prepare and adapt lessons that support pupil engagement and success.
- Encouraging progress in reading, writing, and numeracy through targeted academic support.
- Helping to maintain a calm and positive classroom environment.
- Assisting with lunchtime supervision and classroom transitions throughout the school day.
- Tracking pupil progress and reporting to teaching staff on development and needs.
- Supporting the organisation and running of school trips and special activities.
Who We're Looking For
- Individuals with experience supporting children, ideally in an educational setting or with SEN.
- Someone who is enthusiastic, reliable, and ready to play an active part in school life.
- A confident communicator with the ability to form positive relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
- A patient, adaptable person who can support a range of learning styles and needs.
- Candidates must hold at least GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
- A clear understanding of safeguarding responsibilities and the ability to obtain a valid enhanced DBS.
