Mechanical Engineering Manager sought within Somerset division of global specialist equipment manufacturer offering comprehensive benefits package and further career development opportunities.

Reporting to the Senior Engineering Manager, the Mechanical Engineering Manager will be accountable leading empowering and motivating teams of Mechanical, Development and Design Engineers in NPD and manufacturing equipment.

The Role

  • Lead 'Mechanical Engineering' activities across projects, ensuring that the teams work cohesively and collaboratively toward successful project milestones and to completion.
  • Advocate and lead best practice mechanical engineering across the projects to improve the delivery of the engineering function to time, cost, quality and specification, whilst ensuring the appropriate level of effective technical governance is in place for safety, compliance quality and reliability.
  • Ensure the mechanical engineering of product development meets requirements from Stakeholder through to subsystem-level requirements, ensuring effective validation and verification plans are in place.
  • Lead the mechanical engineering budgets for people and financial resources and contribute to development of future forecasting with the Senior Engineering Manager.

The Person

  • Experience of practical application of best-practice Mechanical Engineering in a relatable engineering industry.
  • Significant experience working in a regulated, compliance-driven industry. Strong understanding on product safety and compliance.
  • Experience of recruiting, interviewing, and hiring Mechanical Engineers both from an emerging internal talent pool as well as external for experienced hiring.
  • Experience of tutoring / instructing best-practice Mechanical Engineering.
  • Must have excellent influencing and negotiation skills at multiple organisational levels.
  • High level of integrity and accountability with a results-driven mindset, able to set the standard, and hold people accountable to deliver.
