This privately owned property and leisure business has a number of sites throughout the UK and an ambitious management team with an appetite for growth. Following recent investment they are now embarking on a phase of expansion which will involve making acquisitions to complement their current portfolio. A new vacancy has therefore been created for a CIMA/ACCA or ACA qualified accountant looking to join them as Group Financial Controller. Under the mentorship of a highly experienced part-time Finance Director this will be a fantastic role involving full ownership of a finance function. Key duties will be:
• Financial reporting and preparation of board reports for senior management• Producing detailed management accounts, budgets and forecasts• Analysis and commentary on variances to site and group budget• Sales reporting and commercial analysis• Annual budgeting and financial planning / capex modelling• Reporting on operational performance and profitability• Close liaison with site management, providing financial support to drive improvements• Development of controls and systems to support further growth.• Monitoring cashflow and supervising sales / purchase ledger assistants• Overseeing the annual audit and statutory accounts production
This role would suit a high calibre accountant with strong communication skills who can work on their own initiative and manage a variety of projects in addition to routine duties. The position has a lot of potential and you will be expected to show an appetite for progression within the business. The ideal candidate would have at least three years of experience in a management level role, ideally with some knowledge of group accounting or experience of working at a manager level in accountancy practice. You should be a good communicator able to build relationships across the business, manage multiple month- ends and learn quickly the nuances of each trading entity.
