Quality Manager- Senior member of site management team

DCS Engineering are currently recruiting a quality manager for one of our clients based in Lancashire. Our Clients are at the forefront of innovation in the manufacture of precision CNC machined components. They operate in the Aerospace, Oil and Gas, FMCG, Rail and many other sectors.

Responsible for:

  • Understanding customer needs and requirements and developing effective quality control processes
  • Administer and continually improve the Quality Management System.
  • Ensure ISO 9001 accreditation is maintained.
  • Work with the operations team in operating at the levels of ISO 18001 Health and Safety and ISO 14001 Environmental standards.
  • To ensure Customer, Supplier and Internal Quality are at the forefront of all production by the company.
  • Monitor, analyse and continually improve scrap, reject, rework and concession quantities and costs.
  • Work with operations team to strive for constant improvements in efficiency.
  • Oversee all product development procedures to identify deviations from quality standard
  • Solicit feedback from customers to assess whether their requirements are met
  • Set requirements for raw material or intermediate products for suppliers and monitor their compliance
  • Keep accurate documentation and perform statistical analysis
  • Managing Internal Audits
  • Drive a culture of continuous improvement including process improvements and lean systems of working,
  • Implementation of 5S, 6S and any other relevant Kaizan principles.
  • Customer, Supplier and Internal quality liaison
  • Involvement and contributor to any problem-solving issues
  • Training of personnel in Quality best practice.
  • Management of the Measurement and Inspection process including decisions on employee competence and equipment availability.
  • A hands-on approach with first off inspection and CMM prove out for new work / Shopfloor sample checks and experience of CMM programming (notably MCosmos) would be advantageous but not essential.
  • As part of a small local team, it may be necessary to very occasionally cover for all aspects of the Quality function for holidays, illness and general absence.
