Private Client Lawyer - CobhamA well-established and highly regarded Surrey law firm is seeking an experienced Private Client Lawyer (5+ years PQE) to join its busy Cobham office. This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled professional to manage a diverse caseload within a supportive and collaborative environment.The RoleThe successful candidate will have strong technical expertise and be confident handling a full range of Private Client matters, including:

  • Wills and trusts
  • Lasting Powers of Attorney
  • Probate and estate administration
  • Inheritance tax and estate planning

They will be responsible for managing their own files efficiently while ensuring high levels of client service and attention to detail. Business development and networking skills will also be valuable in contributing to the continued growth of the department.Key Responsibilities

  • Advising new and existing clients effectively, ensuring all advice is accurately recorded.
  • Managing client relationships, including liaising with beneficiaries, HMRC, the probate registry, courts, and expert witnesses.
  • Overseeing document preparation with secretarial support to ensure timely and accurate production.
  • Keeping up to date with legal developments and fulfilling personal Learning and Development objectives.
  • Ensuring accurate time recording, prompt billing, and compliance with SRA regulations.
  • Undertaking business development activities to promote the firm's services and generate new work.
  • Meeting billing and chargeable hours targets.

The Ideal CandidateThe role requires:

  • A qualified solicitor or legal executive with at least 5 years PQE.
  • Strong technical expertise in wills, trusts, LPAs, probate, inheritance tax, and estate planning.
  • Excellent client care, communication, and organisational skills.
  • A proactive and detail-oriented approach to case management.
  • A strong interest in business development and networking.
  • STEP membership (or working towards it) is desirable but not essential.
