Join our client, a key supplier to major Aerospace customers, in a role that demands precision and compliance. This full-time position is based in a professional environment within a small, dedicated team. You will be primarily responsible for the inspection of both non-metallic and metallic parts and the calibration of dimensional hand tools. This multi-faceted role balances inspection, generation of First Article Inspections (FAI), and tool calibration, offering a dynamic workday.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Perform detailed inspections of non-metallic and metallic parts using non-contact measurement techniques and general hand tools.
  • Independently generate, populate, review, and submit First Article Inspection Reports (FAI’s) to AS9102 standards.
  • Handle ad-hoc inspection requests from customers, including generating detailed inspection reports.
  • Calibrate a variety of dimensional measuring equipment, including micrometers, verniers, and screw gauging equipment.
  • Develop and follow calibration and manufacturers’ procedures and create new procedures for existing or new instrumentation as needed.
  • Provide product/quality support to the New Product Introduction (NPI) and Product Investigation departments for new tooling and part fault finding according to technical drawings.
  • Train junior technicians in metrology principles, technical problem resolution, and complex theories.
  • Occasionally travel to complete calibration tasks for external contracts.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Mechanical Engineering apprenticeship to HNC level or equivalent technical training and certifications.
  • Proven experience in an inspection role within an aerospace or manufacturing environment.
  • Skilled in producing FAI’s to AS9102 standards and using CMM measuring techniques, vision projectors/microscopes, surface finish, and general hand tools.
  • Proficiency in Discus and FAI reporting tools.
  • Competence in MS Office Programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access).
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Understanding of ISO9001, ISO10012, and ISO17025 calibration standards, and Uncertainty of Measurement Analysis.
  • Full UK driving licence required for company vehicle operation.
