Join Our Team as a Housing Officer - Surrey

A fantastic opportunity for a dedicated Housing Officer to join a well established housing organisation in Surrey. Are you passionate about making a real difference in people’s lives and building thriving communities?

  • Hours: Full Time
  • Contract: Temporary (3 months, potential to expend)
  • Pay Range: £12.50 - £17.50 per hour PAYE

Responsibilities

  • Support residents in managing their tenancies, offering advice and resolving issues with empathy and professionalism.
  • Point of contact for local residents
  • Tackle tenancy challenges, such as antisocial behaviour, maintenance concerns, and tenancy fraud.
  • Understand rent and service charges, assist in handling arrears, answer residents' queries.
  • Advise on payment plans, and signpost for debt advice or finding grants and funding.
  • Handle complaints efficiently, aiming for first-time resolution and continuous service improvement.
  • Conduct estate inspections and ensure communal areas are safe, clean, and welcoming.
  • Carry our settling in visits and tenancy review visits, carry out scheduled and ad hoc estate inspections
  • Build strong relationships with residents, empowering them to take pride in their homes and neighbourhoods.
  • Collaborate with local authorities and agencies to address community needs and enhance well-being.

An ideal Housing Officer will be/have:

  • Housing experience working in a public or commercial setting
  • A strong communicator who can engage with people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to balance multiple priorities.
  • Knowledge of housing legislation and tenancy management is an advantage.
  • A proactive, "can-do" attitude with a genuine desire to support residents.
  • Experience in housing or community-focused roles is desirable but not essential.
  • Excellent administration skills
  • IT Literate with ability to analyse data
  • Highly organised
  • Strong attention to detail and able to prioritise workload
