We are seeking a Finance Manager with a strong background in corporate finance and accounting to drive the achievement of our client's medium-term delivery plan and financial and service plan performance indicators. This role involves leading strategic objectives, building key relationships, and taking overall responsibility for financial and risk management within the company.

Day to Day of the Role:
  • Drive achievement of delivery plan and financial and service plan performance indicators through effective service planning and performance management.
  • Lead the delivery of strategic plan objectives and support the achievement of the company’s overall strategic goals.
  • Build productive relationships with key stakeholders and partners, particularly with local council colleagues.
  • Oversee financial and risk management, ensuring comprehensive and accurate financial performance information is provided to senior managers and board members.
  • Research, prepare, and present reports to the corporate management team, Finance and Audit Committee, and Board.
  • Develop and implement financial, accounting, and audit strategies, plans, and policies.
  • Lead the budget compilation process, ensuring sound monitoring and controls are in place.
  • Prepare detailed financial/performance information for timely and accurate account closure.
  • Lead on the preparation of strategic and operational risk registers.
  • Advise on company resources to ensure effective financial management.
  • Analyse financial data, challenge, and make recommendations for service review.
  • Develop and implement financial initiatives and seek opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Deputise for the Director of Business Improvement as required.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant legislation.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Recognised financial accounting qualification (ACCA, CIPFA, CIMA).
  • Sound understanding of corporate finance and accounting legislation.
  • Experience with budget preparation and maintaining financial systems.
  • Proven track record of budget planning, preparation, and financial management.
  • Strategic financial thinker with the ability to apply this to an operational environment.
  • Excellent negotiation, planning, and project management skills.
  • Highly innovative, accurate, and numerate with a customer and quality focus.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to enable others to fulfil their potential.
  • Committed to strong governance and financial control.
