Job Title: Workshop / Hire Manager

Annual Salary: £40,000 per annum

Location: Colchester outskirts (must have access to a vehicle)

We are delighted to be supporting our client, seeking a Workshop / Hire Manager to join their team on a full time, Permanent basis. This hands-on role requires a proactive leader who will take ownership and effectively manage a team of 8. The successful candidate will lead the stores and workshop team, ensuring smooth workshop operations.

Day-to-day of the role:

Workshop Management: Manage and plan daily operations, address deviations, and lead the workshop and service staff to ensure efficient and effective operations.

Workshop Customer Relations: Develop and manage customer relationships, meet current needs, and develop services to meet future needs. This includes discussing and explaining complex technical details or repair processes.

Workshop Performance: Identify and develop internal performance measures, results, and operational targets to ensure optimal service delivery and business results.

Workshop Lead: Liaise with equipment suppliers and maintenance operatives to ensure products and services are procured at appropriate levels.

Workshop Development: Improve technical knowledge and capabilities through employee development and training; procure technology, equipment, and materials to enhance efficiency and scope of work.

Workshop Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant accreditation standards, health and safety regulations, and maintain, calibrate, and test all equipment and tools as required.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in team management within a workshop environment.
  • Ability to develop and manage a team effectively.
  • Engineering knowledge is desirable, ideally supported by formal qualifications, but not essential.
  • Knowledge and understanding of health and safety requirements.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to take ownership of responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail.
