What you will do:
- Provide assessment, differential diagnosis, appropriate intervention, and discharge planning for adults with acquired speech, language, and communication disorders and dysphagia admitted to the acute wards.
- Offer training and guidance in speciality areas for carers, other professionals, and volunteers involved in patient care.
- Lead and support junior staff, ensuring effective caseload management and communication with senior team members regarding capacity and demand.
- Participate actively in multidisciplinary teams and liaise with regional networks and external agencies to maintain high-quality service delivery for your clinical caseload.
- Contribute to the strategic development of services for this patient cohort and overall service delivery, ensuring continuous improvement.
- Offer second opinions on complex cases to other Speech and Language Therapists within the team.
- Act as a designated clinical tutor, supervising and assessing team members and students as needed.
- Conduct research and audits in your specialist area, showcasing your expertise and contributing to the field.
Requirements:
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is essential.
- A minimum of 2 years of experience in a relevant specialism is required.
- Having a car and valid driving licence is preferable, enabling flexible travel between sites.
