Belmont Recruitment are currently looking for an experienced Finance Support Officer to join Conwy Council's Education Finance Team on an initial 3 month temporary contract. This is a full-time role workign 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the preparation of annual budgets and financial projections for schools.
  • Assist in year-end account closures and the production of final accounts.
  • Regularly visit schools to provide financial advice, resolve queries, and support administrative processes.
  • Investigate and respond to detailed queries regarding payments and charges made against school budgets.
  • Maintain and reconcile the Financial Reporting System for all primary schools in the county.
  • Ensure compliance with VAT regulations, Contract Standing Orders, and Construction Industry Tax Regulations.
  • Provide guidance on creditor payments, including logging orders and ensuring adherence to financial codes of practice.
  • Stay up-to-date on relevant legislation and ensure accurate record-keeping and audit trails.
  • Design and implement financial systems using spreadsheets and databases to enhance efficiency.
  • Present financial information to Headteachers and Governing Bodies clearly and effectively.

Essential Requirements:

  • Association of Accounting Technicians qualification or equivalent.
  • Strong accountancy, numeracy, and IT skills, including spreadsheet and database management.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to plan, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.
