Our Client:Founded in 1926, Thomas Swan & Co Ltd is a leading independent manufacturer and developer of performance and speciality chemicals.  The company manufactures over 100 products, from kilogramme to multi-tonne quantities, and also offers a tailored and flexible custom manufacturing service.Thomas Swan is unique within the chemical industry and as a family owned, private business we have the flexibility and speed of decision making that is the envy of larger companies.  The business is remarkably diverse and has technical capabilities that are rare for an SME.  Despite our size we are an increasingly global company with 75% exports, a sales and distribution office in New Jersey, USA, and a sales and distribution office in Shanghai, China.Perhaps and most importantly, we love what we do, we are proud of what we do and we are passionate about growing our business.  The opportunity:Our shift team leaders will play a crucial role in creating and strengthening a team culture that we can be proud of built upon our 6 company values, optimising production productivity and efficiency while developing team members to be the best they can be all within an exciting and dynamic manufacturing environment.  Reporting to the Production Manager you will be responsible for implementing strategies to improve output to meet increasing demand.This role involves working collaboratively with a fresh cohort of shift team leaders and an existing plant management team to develop and execute lean manufacturing processes alongside high integrity and high performance working practices that align with the company's strategic objectives to deliver high quality product, on time to customers.  You will provide effective leadership, coaching, management and support to your team to enable them to achieve their full potential and pro-actively contribute to the overall success of the manufacturing operation.About you:You will have depth of experience as a Team leader/Manager, ideally within a fast moving, customer focused and multi-disciplined industrial environment, with a proven track record of strengthening culture, improving productivity and  implementing lean techniques to drive organizational change and performance.  Your experience may have been gained outside of the manufacturing industry but you have a keen interest to and determination to prove yourself as a leader in a new environment where your transferrable leadership skills alongside your unique perspective and fresh ideas can contribute to our team in so many ways.You will have a passion for leading people and managing processes with excellent communication skills which allow you to effectively coach, develop, and manage a multi-skilled team.  As a strong leader you will be able to build trust and confidence with senior leadership while providing clear guidance and direction to your team, but then ensure they have the tools and skills to execute their duties effectively.  Your ability to collaborate, challenge, and influence others will be instrumental in fostering a culture of best practice and manufacturing excellence.This is a fantastic opportunity to join a values driven  organisation at a truly exciting stage of its growth journey and play a key part in building and sustaining a high integrity and high performance working culture and most importantly creating a highly rewarding and enjoyable working environment.
