Gleeson has been partnered with a Global Business looking for a Shift Engineer to join a growing technical team and further support the business on warehouse & systems.

Job Title: Shift Engineer ( Automated Warehouse)

Salary: £50,000 +

Work Type : On site

Locations: Corby

Duties:

  • Provide onsite technical support and expertise for all matters related to the Automation System by developing an in-depth understanding of its layout, logic, and functionality, focusing on key control and monitoring systems.
  • Diagnose system failures and implement solutions using system information and technical drawings to identify faults, part numbers, and root causes.
  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance in line with the established maintenance regime.
  • Respond methodically to breakdowns to ensure machines are restored to optimal performance and shift KPIs are achieved.
  • Communicate breakdown updates and realistic repair timeframes to managers and participate in site meetings to maintain a collaborative approach.
  • Champion safe working practices, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards, including LOTO procedures.
  • Ensure effective shift handovers by completing detailed handover sheets and providing comprehensive updates to incoming teams to avoid unresolved issues.
  • Take full ownership of breakdowns, applying advanced fault-finding techniques, and following up on unresolved issues to share lessons learned and prevent recurrence.
  • Use system monitoring tools to maintain and track system availability.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve plant stoppages promptly, ensuring machines are not left non-operational without proper escalation.
  • Engage deeply with system implementation to gain a thorough understanding of the integration and connectivity within the system, enabling efficient error diagnosis and resolution.
  • Collaborate with management to promote best practices, perform root cause analysis, and drive continuous improvement.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Extensive knowledge of production lines and packaging systems, with hands-on experience in automated environments.
  • Strong electrical skills, preferably certified to HNC Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Proven Health & Safety experience.
  • Solid background in software applications and systems.
  • Proficient in computer use, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Hands-on experience with components used in a Automated Warehouse
