Alexander Daniels are working with an established Law firm based in Coventry who are looking to recruit an experienced Bookkeeper on a part time basis. Reporting into the Accounts Supervisor, you will be responsible overseeing office and client financial records, ensuring timely and accurate cashbook management and general ledger accuracy.

Responsibilities:

  • Online payment raising and banking activities, receipt allocation, payment processing and reconciliations
  • Notify staff of incoming funds, verify sources, and process receipts accordingly
  • Assist in quarterly client interest calculation and processing
  • Assist Accounts Supervisor and Practice Director with finance-related queries and resolve client financial queries
  • Invoicing and credit note issuance ensuring correct VAT Treatment
  • Review ledgers to ensure any errors are picked up and corrected in a timely manner (allowing minimal review of accuracy pre accounts production)
  • Review debtor and creditor ledgers to ensure items are cleared as soon as possible
  • Preparation and submission of VAT returns
  • Provide information to and liaise with auditors during SRA audit/accounts review
  • Ensure compliance with Solicitors Accounts Rules (including AML related processes), tracking any breaches
  • Provide fee earners with ad hoc financial information regarding matters and debts
  • Liaise with outsourced payroll provider and HR Partner/Practice Director on monthly payroll

Essential Requirements:

  • Proficient in online banking
  • Proficient in LEAP or other Legal Software
  • Proficient in Xero or other accounting software
  • Practical knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules and regulations.
  • Self motivated and able to ensure day to day Cashiering and Bookkeeping duties are completed within the resources (jobshare) available
  • Effective communicator, adept at managing and resolving routine financial inquiries

This is an onsite role and due to the location, access to your own car is essential.
